This is a simple but seriously good toasted sandwich made in the Ninja Foodi 15 in 1 air fryer. Thick slices of buttered bread are layered with English mustard, ham and cheddar, then air fried at 200°C for 10 minutes with a flip at the halfway point. The result is crisp golden bread with melted cheese oozing out. Quality ingredients (real butter, good cheddar, decent ham) make all the difference here.
Ingredients
- 2 slicesthick-sliced bread
- soft butter, very soft
- English mustard
- ham
- cheddar cheese, sliced
Method
Butter both sides of both slices of bread generously with very soft butter, making sure to get right into the corners.
~2 minSpread English mustard on the inner side of one slice. Don't go overboard, just enough for a good kick.
~1 minLayer ham over the mustard, then top with sliced cheddar cheese. Close the sandwich with the second buttered slice.
~1 minLift the sandwich carefully into the air fryer basket. If the top slice tends to lift away, push a couple of cocktail sticks in at an angle to hold it together.
~1 minSet the air fryer to 200°C and cook for 10 minutes. At the 5 minute halfway point, carefully flip the sandwich over, taking care not to break it.
~10 minCheck at the end of the cook time. The toastie should be crisp and golden but not burnt. Every air fryer is slightly different, so adjust if needed.
~1 minSlice in half and serve straight away while the cheese is oozing. Lovely with a side of coleslaw.
